In 2009，taking it as a central task to promote the construction of national-level modern animal husbandry demonstration area while concentrating on realization of “1135” tasks, Chongqing tried to advance the construction of high-quality animal and poultry breeding system, to speed up the transformation of animal husbandry production and operation, to explore the establishment of modern animal husbandry development system. Been policy-supported and market-driven, we had overcome many difficulties, such as the Financial Crisis, Type A H1N1 flu, the feed price large rising, the periodicity fluctuation of fish breeding and diseases. Since September, the price of all kinds of livestock products had risen, the cultivation benefit tended to be stable and the animal husbandry production of the whole city sustained growth. According to the statistics, at the end of 2009, there were 16,500,000 heads of live pigs in stock in the whole city, among which 1,690,000 heads were sow. The total number of live pigs for slaughter in 2009 was 20,010,000 heads, growing 5.3%、13%、5.4% respectively compared to the same period of last year. For cattle, 1,400,000 heads in stock and 450,000 heads for sale, 6% and 8.7% respectively of growth. For cow, 25000 heads in stock, 8.7% of growth. There were 2,400,000 heads of sheep in stock and 1,650,000 heads for sale, growing 7.8% and 10.3% separately, and that number of poultry was 135 million and 190 million, growing 15% and 16.1% separately. The total output of meat was 1,890,000 tons, 5.7% of growth, 90,000 tons for milk, 15.7% of growth, 413,000 tons for poultry and eggs, 1% of growth.
